The Lobby Bar’s beverage program is both unique and all-encompassing. Inspired by the beverage manager, a certified sommelier and self-described beer nerd, the list of available options includes more than 160 different spirits, more than two-dozen carefully chosen beers, and an impressive wine list with a wide range of varietals by the glass or bottle.
The menu of specialty cocktails was also designed for a diverse audience. Guests will enjoy a list of popular cocktails, but with a slight Lobby Bar twist. The Limoncello Drop is similar to the traditional Lemon Drop, but made with Limoncello. The Bulleit Old Fashioned uses a cherry liquor to add some complexity to the flavor profile. Rounding out the cocktail list are the Great Gatsby with Lillet and Grapefruit, and the El Diablo with Tequila, Cassis, and Ginger Beer. The Lobby Bar even has a cocktail of its own invention, the Sparkling Blueberry Cobbler, with muddled blueberries, Amaretto, Frangelico, and Prosecco.
The Lobby Bar boasts an eclectic selection of beers not generally seen in most establishments (more than fifty beers were sampled to narrow down the offerings). There are twelve beers on tap and more than a dozen bottles and cans to choose from. The beer list includes selections from all over the world, with broad styles and some very unique pours – Tiger, a Lager from Singapore, Gavroche a Bière de Garde from France, Chimay, a Tripel from Belgium, a Paulaner Double Bock from Germany, and Hobgoblin, an English Ruby. Local US beers and ciders are also available, such as the very popular Them Little Apples cider, Tröegs IPA, Old Rasputin Imperial Stout, and Atlas Brew Works seasonal pours.
The beverage manager/sommelier took great pride in assembling a list of wines that not only represents the more classic regions and varietals, but also explores some exotic locales, such as Patagonia, Argentina and Macedonia, Greece. The list of white wines offers a little something for everyone, from a big oaky Chardonnay, to a bright and fruity Albariño, or a sweet Pinot Gris. The list of reds encompasses the same variety, from big and juicy, to light and earthy. The Lobby Bar wine list is sure to broaden the palate and excite the senses.
The line-up of liquors was carefully crafted by combining well-known necessities with some rarer and more unique liquors. The list includes a broad variety of whiskeys, scotches, bourbons and cognacs and some high-end tequilas, such as 1942 and Patron Platinum. The cordials offer a broad mix, with several liqueurs, digestifs, and aperitifs – covering all the bases.
The Lobby Bar has a fantastic happy hour from 5pm-7pm every weekday. Beer and cocktail specials and a fantastic menu of local fare provided by Old Maryland Grill are a great way to end the work-day.
