Please join us for an artful evening as we celebrate the talented painters, sculptors and photographers whose works are permanently displayed throughout The Hotel at the University of Maryland. There are 104 carefully selected pieces, created by a small group of 14 local artists whose vision, creativity and style are a perfect fit for The Hotel collection.
Curated by Rhonda Dallas, CEO and Chief Curator at the Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council, this collection of fine art has inspired hotel guests for more than three years. We are excited to host an official celebration of this collection and share details about each piece and the artist who created it.
At registration, you’ll be provided with a self-guided tour map, some delectable bites to eat and a glass of bubbly – the key elements of a fantastic, physically distanced art show! Your tour map will show you exactly where to find the art exhibits throughout The Hotel.
Throughout The Hotel you’ll find design elements that pay homage to the history of the state of Maryland and the University of Maryland. From the colors and visual aesthetics to the names of the various event spaces, there’s no doubt that The Hotel has a deep local connection, and the artwork is no exception. The artists are local Marylanders, many of whom draw inspiration from our region.
For those budding artists, you’re sure to enjoy the Sip & Paint event in the Top of the 7’s ballroom – The Hotel’s scenic rooftop event space. Each Sip & Paint guest will receive a glass of champagne and expert instruction for becoming the next Vincent Van Goh. A cash bar will also be available for guests who specialize in sipping more so that painting.
The evening doesn’t have to end at 9:00 PM. The Hotel is happy to offer a discounted rate for guests who would like to extend the Art Show experience with an overnight stay. With a full-service spa, on-site and off-site options for dinner and drinks, and comfortable guest rooms, there are plenty of reasons to spend your Friday night at The Hotel.
Guests of the Physically Distanced Art Show receive a discounted rate for parking. A flat rate of $5/car is available via parking validation stickers, which will be provided at registration.
